The Choking Game: Are These Kids Crazy?!

Your child may want to be wearing large mens clothing in order to look older and you may find this odd and disturbing. This is quite natural and so is teenagers and youngsters to seek thrills. This however has now taking on dangerous proportions. A recent disturbing trend has been spotted that shows teenagers here are now taking part in the “Choking game”. This game is similar to the Fainting and the Space Monkey games.
In this strange sort of “game” a person asphyxiates himself with a rope or a plastic bag thereby cutting off the oxygen supply to the brain. This gives them a light-headed sensation and they experience something that is out of the world. This feeling becomes like an addiction for many and this has lead to the untimely death of several youngsters across the world.
When the pressure on the neck is too strong to withstand or the oxygen supply to the brain has been cut off for quite some time death is usually the end result. This also happens when the child is unable to restore the airflow or when a child hits his head on something hard as he faints.
The major problem is that children do not understand what is really happening and do not know when to stop. They get a kind of high from choking themselves and that is when they try to push it a little bit further.
Studies have shown that youngsters play the Choking game for nearly four hours at a time and each time they try to push the limit a bit further. The results can be disastrous. Therefore it is very important for the parents and school authorities to keep a tab on the kinds of games the kids play and the stuff they download from the internet. The common indicators of a child playing the Choking game are bloodshot red eyes, headaches, marks on the neck. The child may also carry a rope or plastic bag with him all the time.
There are several social networking sites like Facebook that has started the Help Stop Choking Game campaign and one can only hope the campaign is a success.
